01 About
Talent rarely loses to talent. It loses to presentation.
Photographers do not usually lose work because somebody else shoots better. They lose it in the ten seconds between a person loving an image and trying to find out whether that photographer is free, what they charge, and whether they seem like a real business.
We kept seeing the same thing. Extraordinary galleries sitting behind a link in a bio. Enquiry forms three taps deep. Sites built years ago on a template that no longer loads properly on a phone, which is where nearly everyone is looking. And meanwhile the photographer down the road, shooting no better, gets the booking because their presence answered the question first.
BookedFolio exists to close that gap, and to close it without asking a photographer to gamble money on a promise.
Hung properly, the same photographs become a body of work.
02 The question you are really asking
"So who are you?"
Here is the honest version, which is not the version you usually get on an about page.
We are a small, focused studio, and this is our founding season. Our first clients are still ahead of us, so there is no client list to show you and no testimonials to quote. Every studio we compete with leads with exactly those things.
We are not going to invent them. There is no team page with stock photographs on this site, no "trusted by" strip, no review count, and no founder story with a portrait attached. Not because we are hiding. Putting up a fake one is the single fastest way to lose someone who looks at photographs for a living.
What we have instead is a mechanism. We build the site first and show it to you before any money moves. That arrangement only works for a studio that is genuinely good, because a studio that is not would go broke building previews nobody wants. It is a stronger guarantee than a testimonial, and unlike a testimonial you can check it yourself, today.
03 Why a website, when social exists
Social gets you discovered. It does not get you hired.
A feed shows your work beautifully and then answers almost nothing. Not your services, not your process, not your prices, not how to reach you without composing a message to a stranger.
And none of it is yours. Algorithms change, reach falls, accounts get restricted, platforms decline. A website is the one part of your presence that belongs to you, that works while you are shooting a wedding, and that turns an admirer into an enquiry without needing you to be online.
We are not asking anyone to stop posting. We are saying the post should have somewhere to send people.
04 What we hold ourselves to
Six things, and we would rather lose work than break them.
- Show, do not sell. We build the result first so you can look at it before you decide. That is why there is a free preview and no deposit.
- Honesty over hype. Real previews, real prices, real proof. No invented urgency, no fake discount, no promise nobody could keep.
- Speed with care. Live in days, not months, but every site passes the same checks before it reaches you.
- Your outcome, not our cleverness. The work is measured by the enquiries you receive, not by how impressive the design looks to us.
- You own everything. Your photographs, your domain, your site. Portable, always, with no lock-in of any kind.
- Keep improving. A website is never finished. The Care Plan exists so yours keeps getting slightly better every month.
A generation of photographers who get chosen for their work.
Not overlooked because of their website. That is the whole ambition, and it is why the first ten clients are getting this at $75.
